South Cache will close for pavement work

JACKSON, Wyo.  The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and contract crews are continuing work on two infrastructure projects in the downtown Jackson area. Crews are shifting to new locations as they finish installing new curbs, sidewalks, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps around Broadway Avenue and Millward Street.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, South Cache Street from the intersection with Broadway Avenue and the nearby alley will be closed for 10 days while the roadway pavement is removed and new concrete pavement is poured and cured.

“In addition, WYDOT is performing work for the Town of Jackson to replace some curb and gutter, sidewalks, and install storm drain inlets on Broadway,” WYDOT resident engineer Bob Hammond said.

Next spring, crews will return to Broadway Avenue from Jackson Street to Cache Street to repair sections of concrete slabs and replace the remaining street corners with bulb-outs and ADA compliant ramps and sidewalks. All active construction, detours, and intersection closures are scheduled to remain in place until Nov. 21, when crews will suspend operations for the winter season. The completion date for the entire project is set for June 15, 2027.

WYDOT reminds motorists to reduce speeds, obey all traffic control devices, and watch for roadside workers when driving through construction zones. The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. WYDOT is committed to providing the public with update information as work progresses. WYDOT would like to remind drivers to drive safely, put their phone down and obey all roadside signs and closures.
